shere khan (i thought it was more like "sheer con" but who am i?)

A couple of cons at once.

Con1: That comparison thing? I started doing it while reading other blogs I formerly enjoyed. Suddenly my little old house wasn't cool enough, my fall boots weren't high enough quality, my non-vacations weren't...vacations enough and I started to feel bad. Also my writing was boring. Sad.

Con2: Reading other people's blogs starts to make you feel entitled to know everyone's beeswax.
Or is that just me?

your writing is never boring! but yes, reading other blogs (usually more "commercial" ones, if you know what I mean" does make me feel entitled to know everyone's beeswax :\

There is nothing wrong with knowing beeswax. Secrecy and mystery are highly overrated. If you ever have a question about the beeswax in my life feel free to ask. I'm bursting at the seams to tell you everything I know.

I know what you mean about the comparison thing though! Are you saying that if you stop blogging you are going to stop READING blogs too???? Cause that's just nuts I tell you. Just stop comparing. :) Done. I have had a lot of forced humblings on this front and it is getting way easier to not compare!

Can I just say ditto to Catherine and Carrie! Well said both y'all. I admit that I feel the same as you though, but then I just stopped taking it all so seriously. I read what I want and don't read what makes me feel yuck. I kind of adopted this attitude from you Melisssssss so I am surprised by you. heh heh but not surprised too since I am sure we all feel the same. I know I frequently do! It really goes through stages and phases with me. I took my blog private and invited no one a month or so ago for all these reasons and more. I am back for good now though because I feel like my purpose in blogging is to share with close friends and family, try and be a good example but be honest, and to keep in touch with other people through their blogs if I care enough to read and I always alwaysalawaysalwaysalways care enough for YOURS! Always.

Don't stop! I've told you before, your blog makes my day! I blog because for me it's a way of journaling (I'm too lazy to journal everyday.) at the end of the year I print a book for me and then one for each of my kids. I bagged scrapbooking years ago! It's easy to get discouraged when you compare yourself/blog to others, but as a woman, chance are pretty good you'll do that with or without a blog. It's out nature! As woman we always want to be better at everything, even those things you know nothing about that all the other bloggers are blogging about. I think we need to be comfortable in our own skin. Recognize those things we are great at and work at the things we aren't. I love your blog, but you should do it for you, not for anyone else (although I would be sorely disappointed if you stopped.) besides I love knowing your beeswax!!

I love your blog! I have to admit I am always wishing I could sew cool things like you when I look at your blog so I guess I fall into the comparing category sometimes...:)
